{{aiName}} MCP connections

Professional+Connections let {{aiName}} search and take action across linked apps. Open Connections from {{aiName}} chat to browse the gallery, connect OAuth apps, or add custom MCP servers.

Who this is for

Professional+ workspaces with AI chat. Personal connections are per user. Workspace connections require an admin. For connecting Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor into your workspace (the other direction), see AI Assistants (MCP) in Integrations.

Before you start

  • Permission to open Chat and {{aiName}} Connections.

  • Credentials or OAuth access for the app you want to link.

Steps

  1. Open Chat and start or open an {{aiName}} conversation.

  2. Open Connections from the composer tools.

  3. Browse the gallery or search for an integration.

  4. Choose Personal (only you) or Workspace (everyone once an admin connects).

  5. Click Connect and complete OAuth or enter API credentials.

  6. Enable only the tools you need for chat or routines.

  7. For custom servers, select Connect Custom MCP Servers, enter the MCP server URL, and set authentication (none, API key, or OAuth).

  8. Disconnect any time from the connection detail page.

What you should see

Connected tools appear in {{aiName}} chat and on routine connector pickers. {{aiName}} can call enabled tools during conversations and scheduled routines.

Troubleshooting

  • Workspace scope is disabled Only workspace admins can connect Workspace-scoped integrations. Use Personal scope or ask an admin.

  • OAuth connection fails Confirm pop-ups are allowed, credentials are valid, and the integration is enabled for your plan.

  • Routine cannot use a connector Open the connection and enable routine-safe tools. Some connectors only expose a subset for scheduled runs.

Common questions

What is the difference between Personal and Workspace connections?

Personal connections apply to your {{aiName}} chats only. Workspace connections are shared once an admin connects them.

Can I add my own MCP server?

Yes. Use Connect Custom MCP Servers and provide the server URL plus authentication.

Where do workspace integrations differ from {{aiName}} Connections?

Workspace Settings → Integrations covers billing and data connectors such as Xero or Google Analytics. {{aiName}} Connections are for live AI tool access in chat.

How is this different from AI Assistants (MCP)?

AI Assistants (MCP) connects external assistants into your workspace via mcp.elevale.app. {{aiName}} MCP connections let {{aiName}} inside chat use external apps and custom MCP servers on your behalf.
