When Elevale or you change seat prices, existing clients keep paying their current price until their next renewal. New signups use the updated price immediately. This article explains notify vs effective dates, wholesale vs retail, and what clients see.
The simple rule
New clients and new signups → new price straight away after you Save & Sync.
Existing subscriptions → current price until the first renewal on or after the effective date you schedule.
When you schedule a retail increase in Reselling → Pricing, choose a notify clients date and an effective date at least 30 days apart (effective on or after notify).
Notify date vs effective date
Notify date: when clients are emailed and shown an in-app banner. Nothing is sent when you save the schedule.
Effective date: when billing actually changes: new retail at renewal for existing clients, and new AI wallet markup for usage after this time.
Clients may see the banner before their renewal date, the banner shows both notify timing and when the new price takes effect.
After clients are notified, you can edit the effective date or cancel the schedule; clients receive updated or withdrawn notices automatically.
Your billing period, not the calendar month
Price changes apply at each subscription's own renewal date in Stripe (their billing anniversary), not on the 1st of the month or a single shared date.
Monthly clients: e.g. subscribed on the 12th renew on the 12th each month.
Annual clients: price stays fixed until their annual renewal, which may be many months after the effective date.
Example: effective date 1 August, client renews 15 July → still old price on 15 July; new price from 15 August onward.
Elevale wholesale vs your client retail
When Elevale schedules a wholesale base increase, you receive email at the scheduled notify time, not immediately when Elevale publishes the catalogue change.
Your client retail stays unchanged unless you schedule your own increase or accept a mandatory floor increase.
Elevale's application fee on Connect subscriptions updates at each client's renewal to match the new wholesale floor.
If you prefer to keep client retail unchanged when wholesale rises, choose Hold client prices in Pricing, your markup percentage is recalculated downward (cannot go below 10%). See Reselling pricing and fees.
When you raise markup or client retail, existing Connect clients move to the new price at renewal after the effective date.
Seats added mid-period
If you add a team member before an existing client's renewal date, the new seat is billed at the current live price (which may still be the old price until renewal). After renewal, all seats on that subscription use the new scheduled price.
Plan changes and seat decreases
Scheduled plan downgrades and seat decreases still apply at renewal. A pending price change is combined with those changes so clients are not double-charged or left on the wrong tier.
Immediate upgrades charge the new plan now and clear conflicting renewal schedules so billing stays correct.
Scheduled monthly ↔ annual switches combine with a pending price change at renewal.
What clients see
Connect clients see a seat price banner in Workspace Settings → Billing only after the notify date, not when you save the schedule.
The banner shows current vs new retail and separates the notify date from the renewal effective date.
Wholesale-only Elevale increases do not change client retail, clients typically see no retail price banner for those.
Professional and Enterprise clients also receive an AI wallet price banner in Billing when you schedule an AI markup change (after notify). Business and Foundation clients do not receive AI price notices.
If scheduling fails
After Save & Sync, Elevale enrolls each Connect subscription in Stripe. If enrollment fails for a workspace, you see a warning in Pricing, the client may see a billing alert, and agency admins receive email plus in-app notification. Elevale retries failed enrollments weekly. Contact support if a client stays stuck on an old price after the expected renewal.
