KPI Dashboards

KPIs track the numbers that matter for your business and OKRs. Create metrics on KPIs & Dashboards, link them to key results for roll-up progress, and use parent KPIs and formulas for department or company-level views. Workspace admins can control who sees KPIs and which categories are visible.

Who this is for

All workspace members can view KPIs when their role allows. Editors and admins create KPIs, roll-ups, and formulas. Integration-sourced KPIs need a Business+ plan with Integrations. KPI access settings require a workspace admin.

Before you start

  • Access to KPIs & Dashboards from the sidebar.

  • Editor or admin role to create or edit KPIs.

  • Workspace admin role to change KPI access settings.

Steps

  1. Open KPIs & Dashboards from the sidebar.

  2. Click New KPI to define a metric with name, unit, target, and update frequency.

  3. Link KPIs to key results for automatic roll-up into OKR progress.

  4. Connect integration-sourced KPIs when your plan includes Integrations.

  5. Set parent KPIs to aggregate child KPIs for department or company-level views.

  6. Use formulas for calculated metrics derived from other KPIs.

  7. For shareable dashboard views on Business+, see Live dashboards and reporting.

  8. Workspace admins: open KPIs & Dashboards  Settings  KPIs to set who can view KPIs (viewers and above, editors and admins, admins only, or invite only).

  9. On the same settings hub, use Hidden categories to hide KPI categories from base roles. Custom roles in Teams can still grant Read for specific people.

  10. Open Settings  Dashboards to control live dashboard access and the default sharing mode for new dashboards.

What you should see

KPI cards show current values, targets, and trends. Linked key results update OKR progress automatically. Parent KPIs aggregate children when units match. Formulas recalculate from source KPIs. Members without access see an overlay instead of restricted KPI data.

Troubleshooting

  • Roll-up is blocked Mixed units are blocked when roll-up math would be misleading. Align child KPI units or use a formula instead.

  • Integration KPI does not sync Confirm Integrations are connected under Workspace Settings and your plan includes the connector.

  • OKR progress does not update from a KPI Link the KPI to the key result from the KPI detail panel. Manual KPIs need a value entry on each update cycle.

  • A viewer cannot see KPIs Check KPI access settings (Settings ÔåÆ KPIs). Invite-only or editor-level access hides KPIs from viewers unless a custom role grants Read.

  • A KPI category is missing for some roles An admin may have hidden the category in Settings ÔåÆ KPIs ÔåÆ Hidden categories. Custom roles can override with section Read access.

Common questions

What is the difference between KPIs and Live dashboards?

KPIs & Dashboards is where you define and update metrics. Live dashboards (Business+) are shareable views you can publish for leadership reporting.

How do parent and child KPIs work?

A parent KPI sums or averages child KPIs with the same unit. Elevale blocks roll-ups when units would produce misleading totals.

Can I import KPIs with OKRs?

Yes. Open Import from the OKRs page and toggle KPIs alongside objectives. See OKR sessions and planning for the full import steps.

How do custom roles interact with KPI access?

Base-role access sets the default. Custom roles in Teams can grant or restrict KPI Read for specific members. See User Management for role templates.

Where do I hide the KPIs page entirely?

Use Workspace Settings  General  Page visibility. KPI access settings control who sees data on the page when it is visible.
