OKR sessions and planning

OKR planning sessions help teams align objectives for each quarter. Create a session, add objectives and key results, run weekly check-ins, and import OKRs or KPIs from a spreadsheet when you need a fast start.

Who this is for

Workspace members with access to OKRs. Editors and admins create sessions, objectives, and imports.

Before you start

  • Access to OKRs from the sidebar.

  • Editor or admin role to create planning sessions and objectives.

Steps

  1. Open OKRs from the sidebar.

  2. Create or select a planning session for the current quarter.

  3. Add objectives and key results. Assign owners and due dates.

  4. Link tasks and KPIs for automatic progress tracking.

  5. Open Weekly check-in to update confidence on key results and note blockers without leaving the OKRs page.

  6. Quick-update key result progress from the check-in drawer.

  7. Link risks to objectives when a key result needs escalation.

  8. To import from a file, open Import from the OKRs page.

  9. Toggle OKRs and/or KPIs, download the template, and map columns to fields.

  10. Repeat the objective name on each key result row. Existing objectives in the same session are reused.

  11. Review created, skipped, and failed rows before you finish. Invite unmatched owners if needed.

What you should see

The planning session lists objectives with owned key results, linked tasks, and KPI roll-ups. Weekly check-ins capture confidence and blockers. Imports add rows that match your template mapping.

Troubleshooting

  • Import skipped rows Check the import summary for validation errors. Confirm objective names repeat on each key result row and owner emails match workspace members.

  • Weekly check-in does not save Confirm you have edit access to the key result. Refresh the OKRs page and try the check-in drawer again.

  • KPI progress does not roll up Link the KPI to the key result from KPIs & Dashboards. Mixed units can block roll-up math on parent KPIs.

Common questions

Can I reuse objectives from a previous quarter?

Create a new planning session each quarter. Import can reuse objective names within the same session when rows repeat the name.

What file formats does Import support?

CSV and Excel. Download the template from the Import dialog for the correct column layout.

How often should we run weekly check-ins?

Most teams check in once per week during the quarter. Confidence scores and blocker notes stay on the OKRs page for the whole team.
