Karbon - Setup & usage

Follow these steps to connect Karbon, create connected KPIs, and keep syncs healthy.

Before you connect

  • Confirm you have admin or integrator access to the Karbon account you want to measure.

  • Connection uses Application ID and Access Key.

  • Only connect accounts your organisation owns or is authorised to report on.

Create the application in Karbon

  • Sign in to Karbon as an admin.

  • Open Settings, then Connected Apps, then API Applications.

  • Create the application if needed, then copy the Application ID and the Access Key.

Connect in Elevale

  • Open Workspace Settings → Integrations, find Karbon, and paste both values.

  • Choose Connect and sync. Elevale checks the credentials, then reads companies, contacts, and work.

  • Only a workspace admin can run Sync on the Connected tab.

After the first sync

  • Open CRM and confirm companies and people arrived.

  • Open Tasks and look for the Karbon list. Work item status becomes Not started, In progress, or Completed.

  • Optional: on KPIs & Dashboards, add a connected KPI for open work, overdue work, or hours logged.

Troubleshooting

  • Credentials rejected - the Application ID is a UUID and the Access Key starts with eyJ. Copy both again from Karbon.

  • Time is missing - only the last four weeks are read, and only when the Karbon user email matches an Elevale member.

  • Sync stopped early - use Sync on the Connected tab. Large accounts continue from the last page.

Create connected KPIs

  • On KPIs & Dashboards, create a KPI, choose Connected, and pick your Karbon connection.

  • Select a data point from the catalog (see the Data points article in this folder for the full list).

  • Set a sync frequency. An initial sync runs after save; use Resync on the KPI card for on-demand updates.

  • Review last sync time and error messages on the KPI detail page. Reconnect in Integrations if auth expires.

Sync frequency guidance

  • Daily - traffic, ads, engineering, and operational metrics reviewed weekly.

  • Weekly - summary KPIs for leadership dashboards.

  • Monthly / quarterly - finance and board-level accounting metrics.

  • Match frequency to how often you review the metric. Use Resync after configuration changes.
